Cesar Brioso was born in Havana,
Cuba, in 1965, the son of a life-long Almendares fan. He and his family came to
the United States in November of '65. Having grown up in Somerset, N.J., Cesar
is a life-long Yankees fan. He graduated from Hialeah (Fla.) High School in 1983
and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of
Florida in 1988.
Cesar has worked as a sports
writer and copy editor for the Ocala Star-Banner, Florida Today, The Miami
Herald, (South Florida) Sun-Sentinel and USA Today. After years of hearing stories from his father (right,
with cap) about the exploits of players like Ray Dandridge, Tommy Lasorda, Chuck
Connors, Monte Irvin and Max Lanier in Cuba, Cesar began researching the history
of baseball in the land of his birth. His goal is to write a book on the
subject. Cesar and his wife, Karen, live in Vienna, Va.
